William F. Lawhead is Professor Emeritus of Philosophy at the University of Mississippi. He holds a B.A. in philosophy from Wheaton College (Ill.) and a Ph.D. in philosophy from the University of Texas, Austin. He has been teaching philosophy since 1970 and joined the University of Mississippi faculty in 1980, where he taught for 37 years. Besides teaching philosophy at the University of Mississippi, he served as the chair of the Department of Philosophy and Religion for a number of years and was a member of the faculty of the Honors College. He received three awards for excellence in teaching and numerous grants for research in the humanities. He has published several textbooks as well as articles and book chapters on topics in the history of philosophy and philosophy of religion. In addition to conference presentations in philosophy, he has conducted workshops on critical thinking and hypothesis testing for representatives from various international intelligence agencies.
